I almost gave up reading a couple of times, just because Yancey took so much time building up the characters’ background and the world they live in, but by pushing through I think it made the story even better. Let’s be clear, though: This story had one of the slowest introductions that I have ever encountered. B y the end of the novel, though, all of this skepticism was gone and I definitely found enjoyment out of the story. It definitely had an intriguing premise, but science fiction is not one of my preferred genres. Review: I was skeptical of this novel when I first picked it up. Meanwhile, her younger brother, Sammy, is enduring his own fight for survival in an army boot camp. Working with a mysterious boy that saved her life, Cassie works to find her younger brother and save him from the invaders. She is now surviving the fifth wave, but she’s not doing it alone. Summary: Cassie Sullivan has survived the first four waves of invasion and destruction.
